Character:Steven Rogers/Captain America
Series/Canon:MCU
From When?Post WS

History: Steven Rogers/Captain America History>
Personality: Steve Rogers, some would say has two personalities, much like his friends. There is Steve Rogers, scrawny kid from Brooklyn, NY, and then there is Captain America super soldier. Steve is just kind of figuring out who he is in this time. Steve is the people pleaser. He always wants to do good, and what is right. He spent his childhood, and most of his young adulthood trying to be the best person that he could be, almost to the exclusion of everything else. Steve Rogers is an optimist. He always wants to believe the best in people, and strives to do the right thing.

He is loyal almost to a fault. Once he befriends you, it is a bond that never breaks. His longest friendship has lasted over 70 years. Steve thinks nothing about diving into perilous situations, with no thought to his personal consequences. The only thing that Steve ever wanted to do was help people.

Steve fundamentally changed after he became Captain America. While the serum's primary goal was not to change personality, it did to a certain degree. Steve always had a strong sense of right and wrong, but post serum he became more driven and focused. His world in the early early years was driven by wanting to do what was right, and he worked towards achieving those goals. He was as stubborn as he ever was, but now he had the strength to back him up. Steve suddenly wasn’t the scrawny little kid from New York. He is someone that people look up to now, and Steve has difficulty reconciling that at times.

He embraced his role as a leader. Leading the Howling Commandos was a highlight for Steve as Captain America. He had a goal, and Cap definitely does better with gosls. He likes structure, and being Captain America gives him that.

The Captain America he became after he woke up from the ice was vastly different than the one that flew the plane into the water. 1940's Cap had something to fight for, someone to fight for. The Captain that woke up in the 21st century was much more concrete, and much less likely to see the grey areas in some situations. He is a fighter to be certain, but now he has lost his enemy so he kind of flounders for a bit. He woke up with more anger issues than he went to sleep with. He is generally a nice guy, and with people that he considers friends he is very open with. He tends to let the Captain lead him when he meets new people. He is wary, and somewhat calculating.

He was like a fish out of water. Captain America is the hero that everyone needs to believe in, so that is what Steve is able to give to them. Captain America is a vessel to right the wrongs in the world, and some days it isn’t a role that Steve relishes. He has some difficulty correlating his 1940’s mentality with the social norms of the modern world. He struggles with what he knows is right, and what is doable within the social norms of the 21st century.

Generally, he sees being Captain America as a good thing. He embraces his new role as the team leader of the Avengers, and the natural tendency to lead comes out, and Steve Embraces it.

He still believes in doing the right thing, and he is honest to a fault, much to the chagrin of those around him. He can be stubborn, and when he first woke up, he often clashed with his teammates he tried to make sense of what was, with what actually was.

It can still be a struggle. The one positive is that he isn’t a stranger to being thrust into a new situation, and a new time.

As of late, however Steve has been struggling greatly with who he is, and what he is supposed to be doing. Everything that he thought he knew, was based on a lie. People he thought that he could trust, suddenly he wasn't so sure anymore, and don't even get him started on James Buchanan Barnes. He could really use his best friend right about now, but he needs to find him first.

He is feeling very lost and alone at the moment. Maybe a change of pace is what he needs. Everyone in his life has either left or lied to him, so he really is looking for a fresh start.

Why do you think your character would work in this setting? Why did your character accept Eli's offer? How will they respond to the setting? Will they interact well with others?

Steve has never really had a true home anywhere, or many friends actually, so he is looking for someplace to belong. Maybe New Dodge will fit the bill. He is definitely willing to find out though. Steve has always been one to jump into new situations, so this won't be any different.

He accepted Eli's offer, because he felt that it was time for a change. He had spent much of his life looking out for other people, that after everything that happened with Bucky, Peggy, Shield and Hydra, he felt the need to regroup and breath for a moment. Maybe put himself first for a little while.

Steve will walk into this new situation wary, because that is just the way that he is. He does like to plan, and this most definitely will be unplanned. He will soon find a groove and relax. Steve is a friendly guy and I don't see any problem with him interacting well with others.

First-Person Sample:
Dear Diary-
How do I manage to get myself into these situations? I mean really. First I was frozen in Ice for 70 years, and now suddenly I am in a strange town, with strange people. Although, some of them are familiar. It is strange to see them together, her and him. It's not a good strange or a bad strange, just strange. I never thought I would see him again, and now that I have, he feels just out of my reach.
I am not sure there is anything I can do about that. It may be a situation of too little too late, but I have to try.
